Tucson IDA Team Wins National Award for Housing Leadership

Nicole Johnson at Tucson Industrial Development Authority was one of the inaugural winners cohort for the NextGen in Affordable Housing Finance at National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA)! This national award is HUGE honor and so well deserved.

While she did not have a background in Affordable Housing initially she has SOARED in this role - driven by her passion to make homeownership available to the community and leveraging all of her digital and marketing skills to build awareness through our PimaTucson Housing Innovation Hub. Here are some of her accomplishments over the past three years:

• Helped to raise almost $3M in grants to support down payment assistance through our Essential Workers Housing Fund and Arizona is Home programs

• Grew our social media platform from 0 to over 2,000 active followers across platforms

• Build a website full of helpful resources and tools

• Launched homebuyer education classes in partnership with 3rd Decade

• Oversaw programs that won two Housing Innovation Awards

• Taken the lead on advocating for pro-housing policies at the local and state level

Over and above all of these stats, what we love most is that every lender, homebuyer, realtor who interacts with her raves about her care, compassion, positive spirit. She treats every community member with dignity and care -- a true champion for Tucson and Pima County. Way to go, Nicole! So proud of you!
